Weekend in review

November 1st. One year ago today I lost my second pregnancy. I wish I could have known that baby. I had planned to light a candle in memory today, but I cannot find a lighter, which is frustrating me to no end (we used to have dozens of the darn things lying around. We've had to hide them from Fuss, since she likes to play with them, but they should be SOMEWHERE)

Friday night we went to my SIL's party and dressed as Gibbs and Abby from NCIS. My SIL and her roommate dressed as the band KISS (or 2 members thereof) and they looked fantastic. We used the entire can of black hairspray on my pigtails and still didn't cover all the red, but it gave a good effect, anyhow. I don't know how I feel about being a brunette (I have never dared to color my hair in the slightest. Too scared of what hair dye can do to red hair. A friend of mine tried highlighting her red hair at home and managed to turn it purple instead.) but it was fun for a night.

My husband and his friend painted the front of the house over the weekend. It looks great. We used a creamy pale yellowish color and a midnight blue for the trim. It's going to take me a few days to not be surprised when we I come around the corner and pull in the driveway. (Our garage door is now mostly blue, whereas it used to be off white and sage green and faded) I managed to somehow go to the grocery store without either child in tow, get everything on my list, spend way less than our budget, and get there and home in less than 29 minutes. I was impressed by my grocery shopping skills, even if I do say so myself!

We went Trick or Treating w/ our best friends K&M and their kids. Fuss was a Ladybug and Little Man wore his Halloween onesie. I carried him in the Moby wrap almost the entire time and he slept until the last half of the last street. (he has finally begun to really like the Moby - I've learned that the trick is to get walking once I get him settled in it, at least until he's asleep, comfortably.) It was really comfortable on my back, which was nice. If it weren't for my arm/elbow getting tired from supporting his head that had flopped over once he was in a deep sleep, I could have probably carried him like that for ages.

Halloween-ing

I was just invited to my SIL's (adult) Halloween party. I have always wanted to go to an adult Halloween party where adults wear costumes. I haven't dressed up for Halloween in since I was 11 or 12, so I'm really looking forward to this!

But now I have the problem of what to wear. My dream costume is Marilyn Monroe. I was inspired by the NCIS Halloween episode where Abby is dressed as Marilyn. But I am not really in shape for that dress (I'll be approximately 8 weeks postpartum. I've lost the weight, but the shape...), so I think I might have to forgo the Marilyn outfit.

But in the spirit of NCIS, I came up with the idea of just going as a character from the show. I figured out how to turn my husband into Gibbs (jeans, a white under shirt, a polo shirt, a blazer - all of which we own already and then we need to buy him a badge and a prop gun and maybe some hair gray spray.) And me, I'm going as Abby (I hope. I have some Salvation Army Thrift Store shopping to do) - though I will be skipping the wig and going as a red-haired Abby. But a little imagination is just fine. My mom has a white lab coat I can borrow (I'll add a label that says "NCIS") and I have black boots. I have a fitted black t-shirt that I may or may not draw a skull on (I've been looking at pictures and she does have some plain black t-shirts that she wears, so I may be able to get away w/ that) and I need to get a plaid mini skirt and either over-the-knee socks or fishnet stockings and a dog collar necklace. Pigtails and my outfit is complete. I'm kinda excited about it. I need to get out and looking for my skirt, since that is the centerpiece, I think. If I can't find a skirt, then I'll have to rethink it. I'll buy the knee socks to match the plaid. Or I'll go with fishnets if I find an odd-colored plaid.

I was the mascot. We were the Rhinos?

So the girls on the Luckies board will tell you that I have a fairly active sex life. (And they mostly know this from glancing at my charts when we are trying to conceive, but we talk very openly about all subjects and I do mean everything from the color of our offspring's poo to the way our husbands treat their sweaty genitalia.) We typically have sex 2-3 times on the weekends and 2-4 times during the week. (Which means I just answered incorrectly when I answered Amanda's poll... hmmm. Must learn to count). But I have to tell you that this time being pregnant, those particular hormones have ramped up. Seriously.

When I first got married, I didn't really get the whole "guys need sex very frequently" thing. Okay, I did, but his definition of frequently and mine were different. I thought 2 times per week, even as a newly wed was enough. He disagreed.

So when I thought about it, I realized that I could be selfish and make him always acquiesce to my schedule of such things, or I could (at least sometimes) please him and be willing more often. So I did. And to be honest (as I obviously am today - wow, who would have thought this was my subject of the day?) I got used to it. Now, having sex that frequently is normal and both of us are happier for it. (I noticed that when we DO go awhile without we tend to nitpick at each other more, get into more random disagreements and just not get along as well. Almost like we need an outlet for our frustrations...)

And I remember being fairly active in the sack post-1st trimester when I was pregnant with Fuss, but NOW? Oh. My. Goodness.

I had read about horny pregnancy hormones, but hadn't really thought much about it. But there have been days in the last month or so when we make love 2, 3, 4 times in a 24-hour period. I can't get enough. (Well, lately, I can, but it's not for lack of desire. It's just my girl-parts are getting more tired than the rest of me and I can't start out the day like that and expect to be really active all day with day to day stuff and then go again in the afternoon or evening.) And I am willing and able to try a few more things in bed than I used to be, which seems to very much please my dear husband. And the orgasms are A-MAZING! Everything feels more intense and more electric. I am SO into this. And my husband couldn't be happier.

(Anybody recognize the line from the title? I know a few people should...)

Food & Wine

This weekend, Daddy Fuss and I will leave the Fuss with his mom and will head to Orlando to the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. We have been looking forward to this for months. I am about 6 DPO (will be 8 the day we are at the festival) so I likely will not be drinking the wine while we are there. I am slightly bummed about this since the last time we were at this festival, I was 4.5 months PG and I couldn't drink then, either. However, the food is fabulous, so I will at least enjoy myself plenty. :)

Today has been a trying day - I switched work days so I could go to MOPs tomorrow, and then we had to do some errands at Target. The Fuss got whiney and fussy at the end of the Target trip and dumped half a cup of juice on her lap. Then, when I went to get her out of the cart (which she had been trying to get out of for 20 minutes) she had a fit because her pants were soaking wet and she was uncomfortable.

I'm cranky. I've accomplished a lot (my kitchen is sprkling right now - everything but the floor, which would have been mopped if she hadn't woken early from her nap), but I am cranky. Maybe I should have gotten on the treadmill instead of cleaning the kitchen, but the kitchen gives the impression of usefulness so it won out today.

Check this out

Head on over to Amanda's site to check out her fabulous giveaway this week. She's been getting pretty good with the giveaways lately, so you'd probably like her blog anyway. This particular one is promo-ing Donya's new site, premiering next week.
