I was the mascot. We were the Rhinos?

So the girls on the Luckies board will tell you that I have a fairly active sex life. (And they mostly know this from glancing at my charts when we are trying to conceive, but we talk very openly about all subjects and I do mean everything from the color of our offspring's poo to the way our husbands treat their sweaty genitalia.) We typically have sex 2-3 times on the weekends and 2-4 times during the week. (Which means I just answered incorrectly when I answered Amanda's poll... hmmm. Must learn to count). But I have to tell you that this time being pregnant, those particular hormones have ramped up. Seriously.

When I first got married, I didn't really get the whole "guys need sex very frequently" thing. Okay, I did, but his definition of frequently and mine were different. I thought 2 times per week, even as a newly wed was enough. He disagreed.

So when I thought about it, I realized that I could be selfish and make him always acquiesce to my schedule of such things, or I could (at least sometimes) please him and be willing more often. So I did. And to be honest (as I obviously am today - wow, who would have thought this was my subject of the day?) I got used to it. Now, having sex that frequently is normal and both of us are happier for it. (I noticed that when we DO go awhile without we tend to nitpick at each other more, get into more random disagreements and just not get along as well. Almost like we need an outlet for our frustrations...)

And I remember being fairly active in the sack post-1st trimester when I was pregnant with Fuss, but NOW? Oh. My. Goodness.

I had read about horny pregnancy hormones, but hadn't really thought much about it. But there have been days in the last month or so when we make love 2, 3, 4 times in a 24-hour period. I can't get enough. (Well, lately, I can, but it's not for lack of desire. It's just my girl-parts are getting more tired than the rest of me and I can't start out the day like that and expect to be really active all day with day to day stuff and then go again in the afternoon or evening.) And I am willing and able to try a few more things in bed than I used to be, which seems to very much please my dear husband. And the orgasms are A-MAZING! Everything feels more intense and more electric. I am SO into this. And my husband couldn't be happier.

(Anybody recognize the line from the title? I know a few people should...)

4

Today marks 4 years since the happiest day of my life.
.
Today is my 4 year wedding anniversary and I have the best husband in the world. He's not perfect, but he is amazing. He is a great father and a great friend, lover, confidant. I love him with all my heart. I respect him with every part of my being.

The past 4 years have been the happiest in my life. It hasn't always been easy, we've had our ups and downs, but he can always make me laugh with his jokes or a well-placed movie line or his funny expressions or even a random elephant noise. He inspires me with his intellegence, his work ethic and his trustworthiness. He makes me feel like a woman, a beautiful woman, even when I know I'm not. He holds me when I cry and cheers me when I need it. He is such an awesome father to The Fuss - he plays with her, he comforts her, he makes her behave.

He is a good son and brother. He puts up with a lot sometimes, but he does it willingly.

The 8 years before our marriage changed my life, too. He has been my best friend for as long as I can remember not being a little kid (and by that I mean that other than childhood memories, he is in almost all of them). I couldn't ask for a better best friend than him. He is amazingly strong, funny, compassionate, and loving.

He is a hard worker and puts his all into providing for our family.

I think that I am possibly the luckiest woman in the world. He is mine and I love him with all my heart.
Happy Anniversary, my love. May we have many, many more.

To the Love of My Life

Dearest Husband,
Today marks 3 years of marriage for us - it seems like we have been together for a lifetime (In a good way) and I cannot picture myself living my life with anyone else. I love you more with each breath I take. I am so grateful to have you in my life. You fulfill me in more ways than I can count and every day with you is a blessing.

I am also grateful that you gave me our beautiful little girl. Each day with her is a gift and though I sometimes get stressed out, I want you to know that we have the best baby ever and I wouldn't give her up for anything.

You are the love of my life and I look forward to many many more years together.

Love,
Me

Love and random updates

We tried a new church/Sunday School class over the weekend – it was a couples class at a conservative Baptist church that is right near our house. We had visited heir newlyweds class over a year ago and it didn’t fit us well. With our bible education backgrounds from our private school, light, surface teaching bores us. This class, while including young couples who were further along in their relationships/lives than us, seemed to be more up or alley.

I was relieved to hear the statement during the class that you are supposed to love your spouse more than you love your child – differently, of course, but the spouse more than your child, none-the-less. I had always believed that that was God’s purpose – you are supposed to love Him, your spouse, your children – in that order. I know I sometimes struggle with loving Mr. Moose more than I love God – but that’s a topic for a different post, I think. ☺ So much of what I’ve read lately implies or comes right out and says that your child should be first, etc. It relieved me to hear otherwise from the Bible.

I know I’m going to love Kremit – I already do in some ways and I know that when she is born and I hold her and look at her for the first time, that I will love her even more and my heart and hers will forever be linked. But I cannot imagine or comprehend loving her more than I love my husband. It’s foreign to me.

In pregnancy news, our little girl has been increasing her strength and activity of late and I feel her all the time these days. It’s fun and assuring, though there have been a few times when I have expected her to move and she doesn’t and I get panicked.

Our kitchen, as I mentioned, is basically done, minus the backsplash and flooring. I chose the backsplash tiles last night, and while they are very plain, I think it will look nice. It will also allow me to do pretty much anything I want with the flooring, so I will be choosing that hopefully soon to complete the overall project. I ended up going with my dad’s preferred tile, even though it wasn’t what I originally envisioned. I sometimes think I do that that too often – submit to his preferences just because I want to please him – but overall, I think it’s going to work out nicely. I can’t wait to have a room completely done – not looking for a final detail or waiting for more money until I can fix/replace/install whatever.

I keep looking around my house wondering what irrational thing I’ll want to fix when I go through my nesting period – I’ve noticed several little things and more bigger things. There is a missing bit of paint in the hallway – on the ceiling and a nick in the doorframe outside the baby’s room. We tore out the ugly black rubber baseboards in the living room after we painted the room overall, and we never finished patching/repainting them. I’m really wanting to replace the ugly cheap rug we stuck under the dining room table since between human and dog-related spills one end of it looks really nasty. I found a comparable rug at Target for $35 on sale, but because of the budget constraints, I haven’t bought it yet. I am totally disconcerted by the closet issues in the baby’s room and I really want to replace them. If my dad pays for the tile in the kitchen, we may be able to swing both that and the travel system (which is the bigger priority) from the money mom gave us to help with the kitchen.

Happy Anniversary to the Meese

Yeah, so um, I’ve been bad again. Bad, blogger, bad blogger. Life has been chaotic and posting regularly on my blog has not been a priority. To any readers

Today is my 2nd wedding anniversary. Two years ago today was the happiest day of my life. Today is the day I committed my life to my best friend, began the life I was meant to live. It was the happiest and most beautiful day of my life, surrounded by the people who mean the most to me, in the church that I had grown up in.

Two years later and I am more sure now that I made the right decision than I was then – and I was awfully sure then. We have a wonderful life together, Mr. Moose and I. We are incredibly happy in our house, with our dogs, spending each day together. We look forward to the day when we will make our home for 2, a home for 3.

My grandmother fell last week and broke her shoulder. She had surgery on Friday and Mr. Moose and I will be taking our shift to keep her company this upcoming Friday – the first day we could both get away. She is doing amazingly well, but my mother worries about her being so far away from family and is hoping to get her to move in when they release her for out-patient therapy in another couple of weeks.

In cycle news: Yesterday, I tested at 10DPO with little to no spotting in sight. I had planned to wait until Tuesday to test, but with Father’s Day and our anniversary, I wanted to see if there was a chance we could know sooner. Armed with $ store tests, I tested. We got a very faint pink line. It darkened a little after the test time had expired, but we were both incredibly happy, though cautiously so. This morning, my waking temp was lower, much closer to coverline, so I tested again. There was an even fainter bit, maybe. The expired test still showed a slight positive, but it was also lighter than yesterdays. However, I still have not begun to spot at all, so we shall see. My covers were screwed up, effecting the temperature of my body and I had peed in the night, so there was likely to be at least slightly less concentration in the urine (sorry for the TMI). We are praying that we get a darker line in the next few days and I plan to ask for a blood test on Thursday if I still haven’t gotten my period when I go see the doc.

"I've loved another with all my heart..."

My favorite book is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I’m totally addicted to it and I cry every time I read it. It is the most beautiful and poignant love story and I never tire of reading it. There is a quote in the first “chapter” that Mr Moose had engraved on a journal for me for our wedding.

“I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul and to me, this has always been enough.”

I haven’t written in that journal yet because I’m afraid to mess it up. I want to write our love story in it, the way the character in the book wrote theirs, but I don’t know how to begin it. I hope he doesn’t think I don’t love it, because I do.

Sometimes I feel like Mr Moose and I are the most special couple in the world. I look around at other couples (I won’t mention who here, but there are several) and I think “are we so different that we have something so incredibly special between us?” We are best friends. Have been for years. Even back when we were 16 and I gave him his first kiss (or did he take it? Don’t know) we were best friends before we were anything else. And now we are still best friends, though I use that title for my girlfriend, K. We are best friends, lovers, roommates and all of that together rolled into one is how I define “husband and wife.” But not everyone has that complete combo. I know several people who would not consider their husbands (or their wives) their best friends.

Still no word on whether or not we have a baby coming… Mr Moose was ready to test again last night, but my “What To Expect” book said that while most tests say they CAN detect the Hcg hormone level 4 days before your period, that it’s more accurate 1-2 weeks after. We’re going to do it Sunday morning, which is 10 days after my period was due. I looked up more on implantation bleeding and I’m still not convinced that what I had was or was not implantation bleeding. I truly have no idea. Of course, their description at Baby Center was pretty vague, but I guess it’s different for everyone. Depending on the outcome, I may still have to wait another 2 weeks or so to find out for sure. I’m due again January 11th.
